LOVING IT

It’s been about two weeks now that I’m in Delhi for a training course. Summer temperatures are at an all time high and yet I’m loving it. The humidity is much better than Dimapur anyway. So here I am attending classes till the evening and rushing outdoors so very often that I’ve started loving my tan too.

There’s something about Delhi that I keep missing even when I’m back home and that’s why I keep visiting the place at the slightest excuse. And while it may not be for anything extravaganza, its for the really simple things that touches the heart. And food tops the list. I love eating out in Delhi, trying out new menus but most of all going back to the basics ie street food and dhabas ; the rolls, chats, pani puris or the juices…anything. I’ve loved the Caesar salads and sushis too but nothing beats the refreshing tangy flavour of the golgapas that I simply cannot resist. And for now I’m trying out the pani puris from every available corner that I bump into.

Books are another weakness and I love going to Darya Ganj on Sundays. The rows and rows of books stacked up on the streets are simply irresistible, atleast for me. Sadly, those second hand clothes sellers these days have marred the books vendors and they’ve become a real nuisance as they take up most of the space in an otherwise congested footpath area. Otherwise I can spend hours browsing through the bookstands and I’ve already got my hands into few rare publications on my earlier visits, and that too, for a dime. Darya Ganj still remains an all time favourite.

Shopping is not a hobby and so the remaining time is usually dedicated to movies. It’s an interesting time past especially when the big screen with the state of the art sound system lures you into the halls. And at those times even mediocre movies start to look enticing. And I love it.

  1. Quite interesting, Asangla, that 'weaknesses' are always a point to indulge in when the 'stronger' passions have wearied one out. I'd always felt that the best opportunity to growing is to leave aside the supposedly 'enriching' things in life and dwell more on the smaller moments we so often miss (Do you enjoy the rain? I do :). Personally, music and yes, books continue to be the passions that force me from the heat, fatigue and general drudgery (or just plain laziness) :)

  3. Thank you, Asang, that you would find my rantings an interest to indulge your time in. I'm only just learning to grow in the creative spaces that I have left to God and His graciousness. Other than that, yes, I have never stopped growing from the incredible encouragement and support from readers, you all, all these amazing years. Thank you so much. You are wished all my best, too, that your personal meanderings and muse would be an inspiration to one, someone, somewhere out there. I shall be in touch; here's looking forward to more of your blogs Thank you again and keep happy.
